应一些常来少儿华文书园家长的建议，我们开始中文少儿书籍租借服务。我们现有的两千种图书，分为三大类。第一类包括儿童绘本故事，适合婴儿，幼儿，学前，及小学低年级儿童与家长分享阅读。故事来源多样。有美国，日本及其它欧亚国家经典绘本译文，有台湾和大陆本土作家的作品。故事题材丰富。有些关注儿童心理，有些介绍文化传统，有些侧重用幽默来吸引小读者。第二类属科学知识。适合学前，及小学低年级儿童与家长分享阅读。此类书用优美的插图和生动的语言向小读者介绍丰富的动物，植物，人体，及其它多种自然现象的知识。第三类属小说类，目前只占我们藏书的极少数。适合有中文阅读能力的小学高年级及中学生生独立欣赏。

借阅规则及收费

• 每个家庭每次可借阅最多达十本书

• 三星期之内图书归还书园

• 每本书收费 $0.50

• 大部分图书是单行本，在北美购买不到。希望家长妥善保存。如有遗失，需向书园赔偿损失（简体中文书每本 $8; 繁体中文书每本$12）。

We have a collection of 2,000 children’s books in Chinese. Eighty percent of the books are in traditional Chinese characters, and the rest are in simplified Chinese characters. The books are divided into three sections: picture books, non-picture books and fiction. (1) Picture books constitute the majority of our collection. These books are either translations of Western children’s classics, or created by Chinese authors in Taiwan and mainland China. We further divide these books into three reading levels, based on the length of the text, the language level, and complexity of the stories. (2) We also have a large number of non-fiction books include books about animals, plants, human body functions, and other topics about nature science. (3)  We have a small number of fictions, covering a variety of topics such as detective stories and Chinese kong-fu stories.

Book Renting Regulations

• Per borrower can check out a maximum of 10 books each time.

• Books need to be returned to the Book Garden within three weeks. Can be renewed upon request.

• The fee per book for the entire 3-week period is 50 cents.

• Please take good care of the borrowed books, because most of them are not available on the US market and would take months to be replaced if they’re damaged or lost. In the event that a book is lost while under your possession, there is a $15 charge for the book.
